Embarking on a Trailblazer Journey: A Panel Discussion on Personalizing Learning & Integrating New Tools & Methods

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The Trailblazers program is a group of Des Moines teachers who created action plans to address an instructional challenge area in their classroom. Through the incorporation of new digital tools (online reading & math tools, video creation, social media, OneNote, etc) and new teaching strategies these teachers changed their approach and began to personalize the learning for themselves and their students.

We will be introducing the Trailblazer program by having a moderated panel consisting of 8 current Trailblazers from all levels in Des Moines Public Schools District.  The audience will have a chance to interact with the panel through listening to topic discussions and posting their own questions through a backchannel format.  Participants will also have the opportunity to join in on breakout sessions after the panel is completed.  We will be using four topics to guide our breakout session:  1. Starting a Trailblazer program in your district.  2. Instructional challenges Trailblazers have faced.  3. Action planning and strategies implemented into various classrooms (flipped, flexible seating, playlists).  4. A chance to explore and discuss one-to-one with a Trailblazer or Instructional Tech Coordinator from DMPS.
